World Environment Day

World Environment Day (WED) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, and this year`s goals were "to give a human face to environmental issues; empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and advocate partnership, which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future." The awards luncheon on September 14, 2007, honored the top three particpants of each school and their teachers, and several prominent members of the community were invited to speak.

And the winners are...

First Place: Princepius Beebwa (Katoke Seminary)
Second Place: Elivis Dan (Biharamulo Secondary School)
Third Place: Ferdnand Kyamwangile (Katoke Seminary)
Special Jury Prize: Julieth Eustrad (Nyamirembe Secondary School)
